Description:

This is a beautiful Bubinga log with interesting grain and heavy figure. The boards have some minor defects like end checking, some surface checking and worm holes in the sap wood. This is a great table top log.

Note: All pictures of boards that appear wet, have been wiped with denature alcohol to help show natural color. We use denature alcohol because it evaporates and does not effect the moisture content of the wood.

This is a pith board with most of the checks showing at the end of the board. There are some surface checks in the board as well. This would be a great board for ripping or a bar/counter top. The board does show figure in the quarter sawn grain. The thickness varies in this board from 1.5" - 2.5". The measurement for thickness was taken at 2".

This board was cut close to the pith but doesn't appear to have much of the pith crack. The end checks are roughly 35"long. There is one minor surface checkin the center of the board. Most of the grain is quarter sawn except the center of the board where it is flat sawn. This board could be used as a table top.

This plank varies from 9/4 - 10/4. Most of the plank is 10/4 but there are several dips in the board that drop to 9/4. One spot in particular shows a 1" drop in thickness. The board has been measured as a 9/4 board. This plank shows nice quarter sawn figure and some flat sawn grain in the center of the board.

This is a beautiful board of figured Bubinga. This is one of the best boards in the log. The only defects are some minor end checking roughly 16" long and worm holes in the sap. This board has nice cathedral grain in the center of the board and a wavy rift/quarter sawn grain along the edges.
