This flicth # covers a whole parcel of flitches. In 2006, we purchased 5000 board feet of Rosewood that was cut in the 1930's. All this Rosewood has been sitting in dry storage for 70 years. Every board is over 8 feet long and most of the material is 14 to 16 feet long. The material averages 6 to 18 inches wide. All the material is over 2 inches thick and some is up to 4 1/2" inches thick. The material is extremely stable due to the length of air-drying. This parcel # covers the 2500 board feet that we have left. Their is limited bookmatches and log sets left in this parcel, but most pieces are huge with 30 to 60 board feet in them. The thickness allows for re-sawing possibilities. This enables this species to be used in projects that normally are not available due to size restraints. In comparison most Rosewood found today is 1 to 8 inches wide and 2 to 6 feet long. Thus making this material extremely special and rare. The quality of this material ranges from clear to rustic. The rustic boards have mostly checks but large size rippings can be achieved even in the most checked pieces. The material is priced by the quality. Serious inquireres only this material is very expensive. |
