Description:

This English White Oak log is possibly one of the nicest logs that we have ever cut. The log was harvested from the Duke of North Umberland's Estate. The tree is over 300 years old and measures about 7 feet wide at the widest point. The tree was dying from a fungus only found in England that actually kills the tree and in the process changes the wood's color into a beautiful chocolate brown. This tree was also covered in burls. The outside boards show the thickest burl pattern giving it a marble like apperance. The burl is so strong that it penetrates to the very center boards, which is very rare in burl wood this size. Every board in this log tells a different story and all the slabs will make exceptional furniture- especially single piece table tops. Some of the outside slabs have an amazing round shape, which will be ideal for leaving the natural edge in the design of the furniture.

Note: All pictures of boards that appear wet, have been wiped with denature alcohol to help show natural color. We use denature alcohol because it evaporates and does not effect the moisture content of the wood.
