Description:

This is the biggest Persian Walnut that we have ever cut. It was found on an old Turkish homestead. Measuring 13 feet long at the longest point and up to 61 inches wide this incredible tree has about 1700 board feet of useable material! The beautiful boards show the best color and figure that one could hope for in a Persian Walnut. In the centerboards it has gorgeous crotch figure- very unusual for this species. It also shows amazing "spider-webbing grain pattern" sometimes known as "marble cake" figure- the black stripy grain, considered to be the finest grain pattern of any walnut in the world. "Spider-webbing" offers a terrific contrast and is prized by gunstock makers. Along with gunstocks of the highest quality, these enormous boards are also perfect for many projects including tabletops. Most of the boards do have serious checking issues caused by wind shake. They could easily be repaired with butterflys or other joinery. This log could also be cut into paneling material and due to the size of this flitch could be used for a very large room or if veneered, many rooms. This without question is one of the finest logs we have ever cut. The quality is not the best but you will not find prettier walnut.

Note: All pictures of boards that appear wet, have been wiped with denature alcohol to help show natural color. We use denature alcohol because it evaporates and does not effect the moisture content of the wood.
