This walnut is absolutely huge. It just barely fit on our sawmill with a maximum width of about 65 inches. First side of the log cut very well producing some almost clear material. The closer to the center we cut, the more knots we found, but even the knotty slabs are amazing and would make great tabletops. About 4 slabs suffered from rot at the butt end, that being the main flaw of this log. Nice dark color and very little sapwood for a log of this size. All in all a great walnut, the likes of which you don't see much of anymore.
Please Note: All walnut slabs and walnut lumber can only be sold kiln dried with the bark removed. This applies to all members of the walnut family (Juglans) which include but are not limited to Black Walnut, Butternut, English Walnut, European Walnut, Claro Walnut and Persian Walnut
