Hearne Hardwoods Inc is not your typical sawmill or lumberyard.  We are a specialty lumberyard with the focus on offering our customers access to one of the finest collections of exotic woods in the world.   We maintain over 120 species of domestic and imported hardwoods in stock.  Most of these species would be considered by the wood industry to be the finest and most beautiful examples of their species in the world (Example  Birdseye Maple instead of hard maple, Amboyna Burl, book matched 40”+ paduak in addition to normal double edged  boards, Koa in large flitches and dimension lumber, Rosewood, Snakewood, Walnut, Etc.).  Within these wood species we stock most of our inventory in only the highest grades with more than half of it being either figured or unusually wide.

A healthy global environment is always a primary consideration for us. We focus on areas of the world where there is sound forest management. We sell a lot of state certified sustainable products such as German Spessart oak and also deal in many salvaged woods, an example being reclaimed American chestnut. Trees are a renewable resource when managed properly.

We are able to offer the finest grades of these timbers at fair market prices by hand selecting our material at the source.  Rick Hearne started this business over 25 years ago as a logger.  Through experience he is able to pick 1 log out of hundreds from the same species, that for one reason or another is more extraordinary due to figure, color, etc.   Rick and his son Brian Hearne are our primary log purchasers and spend a significant amount of time traveling around the world looking for beautiful exotic wood but several other members of our staff are also involved in purchasing.  We are always on the look for the next “one of a kind log”, these logs (flitches) are what make our business truly special.

This business has become a passion of the Hearne Hardwoods family and it can be seen by the vast amount of beautiful wood that we have.  We love wood and it shows by our inventory at any given time comprising of 1 million board feet in over 120 species. Our goal is to offer our customers the most diversified collection of beautiful woods that can be found from sustainable sources coupled with excellent customer service.
