OK, the election is over and we are no longer being assaulted 24 hours a day by the media trying to spin every move of every candidate, now instead we keep getting more news of the ruination of the economy. The last 20 years or so have been one of the easiest times in history to make money and now we are finding out that we all were in a huge casino of a financial system in which greed was rampant. Maybe we need to focus our sights on helping each other get through this and reestablish what makes our society great, the principles found in the United States Constitution not unlimited consumerism. Our standard of living even in these trying times is still much higher than most of the rest of the world's. There has never been a time in history when the world has not been dangerous. Americans have been fortunate to have a strong shield protecting us from most dangers of the past few decades. The world is changing. The one thing we showed the world with our last election is that our system is strong and free and our Constitution is alive, this is the strength of America and the fear of despots the world over.

Recent News:

Last month Rick Hearne took a brief but highly fruitful buying trip to Europe. In Italy Rick purchased some exceptional musical instrument parts. A stop in Germany produced some lovely 4/4 and 5/4 European Spessart Oak boules.

Anyone that knows Rick knows that he likes to have a little fun along the way... this past trip he took a boat ride through a lagoon off the coast of Venice, visited a few lumber yards in the Alps, found an extraordinary Chestnut burl (that he is still considering buying), then rounded out the stay with a visit to a German Christmas street festival.

If you would like additional information on any of these products please call (888) 814~0007.

Featured Wood: Wandoo

Wandoo, a native species to Western Australia, is most commonly found growing in shallow valleys or on low ridges. Sometimes referred to as "White Gum", it is a member of the Eucalyptus family.

A very dense wood, Wandoo needs to be dried carefully to avoid checking and end splits. The heartwood color is gold to a light reddish brown and sap is usually minimal. It is most commonly used for furniture and flooring.

Wandoo is a relatively new species to us here at Hearne Hardwoods, we currently have only one flitch available... but it is gorgeous! Wandoo Flitch 14038-14051 has beautiful color and heavy tight curl through the center boards, and pomelle/birdseye figure on the outer boards. Another fascinating characteristic of this flitch is its "wild natural edge"- it looks as if it is from a different world. Average specs for this log are 8/4 thick x 30 inches wide x 127 inches long... however wider material is available. Click here for more information or call (888) 814 ~0007.
