In November Rick Hearne traveled back to Belize to purchase more Sinker Mahogany.  Thanks to an excellent established contact, there was an awesome pile to sort through and we are happy to say more logs will soon be on their way to Pennsylvania.

During the second half of Rick’s stay, he was fortunate enough to tag along and see the process in full - from using sonar to locate the logs via river boat, to the semi-nerve-racking dives, and then securing the logs to the winch boat to be towed ashore. We hope that you enjoy the photos!

(In case you are unfamiliar with our Sinker Belizean Mahogany we refer to it as such because it is Genuine Mahogany that has been submerged under water in the rivers of Belize for 75 to 150 years! Back when Belize was a British colony they would float the logs to port. Occasionally the dense logs would sink. In 2008 a small Belizean outfit began recovering these lost treasures using small boats and pulleys to limit the impact on the environment.  We were fortunate enough to be invited to supervise the cutting and have been working with these men ever since.)

Once the process of moving the logs across the river began, an armed guard remained with the logs until they arrived at the collection site for containerizing.
