A few of Our Specialties:

We typically carry around 140 different species of wood. From figured to plain sawn, domestic to exotic, we are always interested in finding and selling the unusual and beautiful. Most of the wood we have in stock is in solid form, rough cut, in random widths and lengths or flitch cut (meaning the material has two natural edges). We specialize in figured hardwoods; a few of our more common figure patterns include: birdseye, tiger, curly, quilted, bear claw, spalted, pomelle, burl, and pippy.

Below are just a few of our favorites. In these particular species we normally carry several thousand board feet of material ranging from plain sawn to instrument grade figure. For more information on any of these species please click on the photos below.

Flitch & Log Set Inventory:

Hearne Hardwoods Inc. is probably best known for our Flitch & Log Set Inventory. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the term "flitch" as it applies to solids, a flitch is a log that was cut into slabs and stored/ catalogued together in the order that it was sawn. The outcome is wider than normal material, usually possessing a natural edge on both sides; it is highly desirable for woodworkers designing one-piece tabletops, countertops, book matched furniture, etc.

On our Flitch & Log Set Inventory you can view over a hundred sets that are dry and ready to be used. Exact dimensions and pictures are listed for each individual board. For your added convenience we have created "flitch set quick sorts" so that you can easily view- Domestic Species, Imported Species, our Most Recently Added Flitches, our Widest Flitches, and our current "Favorites". Please note that some of the material on our Favorites List is still GREEN- we just couldn't wait to share!! You are always welcome to reserve boards from our green material or logs that haven't even been cut yet.
