We are managing to stay busy here at Hearne Hardwoods. Even in this economy there seems to be a commitment to building beautiful furniture and houses by people who are passionate about wood. There is something very compelling about being able to just touch a magnificent piece of wood. Now I'm off to Africa to participate in a government auction of FSC certified logs, many of the species I've never heard of before. I've rarely been so excited about preparing for a trip. This is my first opportunity to visit Africa and I will be getting tours of their beautiful forests, in this case forests that have been certified for sustainable harvesting. I will be taking many pictures and will try my best to avoid being pulled in a river by a croc, so stay tuned next month and I will share the adventure with you.

Recent News:

Last month, Rick Hearne ventured down to Western Kentucky to meet with World Class Wood Turner, Chris Ramsey. Chris had some beautiful Honduran Rosewood Burls that he thought Rick might be interested in seeing. He was interested, and purchased a small truckload!

Brian Hearne started the month with a trip to Indianapolis for another round of Festool Training Courses. This time the subject was routers and jigs. ~If you are interested in learning more about routers or would be interested in any other Festool product demonstration we would happy to give you one free of charge. Call (888) 814-0007 to schedule an appointment; please ask for Brian Hearne or Morgan Buchanan.

After a brief stop at home Brian was off to England, in search of some "red hot" English Wych Elm Burls. Lately we have had trouble keeping up with the demand for Wych Elm, but we bought as much as we could! More information and photos will be posted on this material when it arrives in the states. ~Can't wait? Feel free to call for details and/ or to reserve your material today.
