Hearne Hardwoods was proud to be part of the collective energy of the 2009 NAMM Show. It is always a delight to see our customers being creative with our woods, especially when they produce such beautiful instruments! About Hearne Hardwoods: We are located in Oxford, Pennsylvania; a small town situated in the southeast corner of the state. Typically we carry around 140 different species of wood. Most of our stock is in solid form, rough sawn, in random widths and lengths or in European flitch cut. Specializing in figured hardwoods, our more common figure patterns include: birdseye, tiger, curly, quilted, bear claw, spalted, pomelle, burl, burr and pippy. We have a retail store in Oxford, PA along with an extensive website. If you have the opportunity we hope that you will visit both. Hearne Hardwoods Inc. is probably best known by our customers for our Flitch & Log Set Inventory. If you are unfamiliar with the term "flitch" as it applies to solids, a flitch is a log that was cut into slabs and stored/ catalogued together in the order that it was sawn. The outcome is wider than normal material, usually possessing a natural edge on both sides; it is highly desirable for woodworkers designing one-piece tabletops, countertops, book matched furniture, etc. We have hundreds of flitch sets on site in varying degrees of the drying process and every slab of our dry sets can be viewed on our website.
