It always amazes me when I consider how our capacity to love increases when we have children. The moment our babies emerge our hearts explode with this new overwhelming emotion and we are never the same again. They bring out of us such intense emotions, love, happiness, sorrow and excitement that no one else can. This month my daughter Alison is getting married and now I will share her heart with another, but I know it is big enough for both of us, and the children to come, may God bless the new Webster family!

Featured Wood: American Chestnut

American Chestnut, Castanea dentata, comprised over 60% of the Eastern hardwood forest when the European settlers first arrived in North America. Do to its abundance, wonderful stable disposition and lightweight, the colonials used it for every utility purpose. Alas at the turn of the 20th century American Chestnut trees came under attack from chestnut blight and by 1920 almost all of the Chestnut trees were dead. Fortunately today the American Chestnut Society is making wonderful progress restoring the species by breading blight resistant trees.

Presently most of the Chestnut lumber that is sold is reclaimed material. All of our stock is reclaimed: we purchase old timber beams, de-nail them and re-saw them into boards. This rustic wood has a golden-brown color, coarse texture and is widely used in old homes... the more defects the better and is prized when full of wormholes!
