Entry-Level Positions – Lumber Yard, Sawmill, Guitar Parts Production

Hearne Hardwoods is hiring for entry-level positions within our lumber sales, guitar parts manufacturing, sawmill and woodworking departments.  Full time positions include full benefits after a trial period.  This includes paid vacation, health care and retirement fund.  The position offers great potential for growth for hard working, reliable, self-motivated individuals.  

Tasks may include the following (Prior experience preferred, though not required):

  • Handling and moving material, including stacking and unstacking lumber–must be physically able to lift up to 80 lbs.
  • Being open to learning to operate heavy equipment, including a track skid steer, front-end loaders, telehandlers, and our LT70 Woodmizer sawmill. 
  • Operating standard machinery such as bandsaws, jointers, planers, and table saws.
  • General machine maintenance, adjustments, and keeping equipment and work areas clean.
  • Operating company flatbed trucks and truck-trailer combinations (Non-CDL, but requires passing a DOT physical). 
  • Forklift operation
  • Assisting customers with a positive attitude and utilizing our internal computer database to track lumber inventory.
  • Remaining adaptable and willing to pivot between different tasks and departments as needed.

Job Requirements:

  • Reliable attendance, punctuality, and the ability to work well with others.
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods and work outdoors in both summer and winter conditions.
  • Strong basic math skills, which are essential for measuring wood and tracking inventory.
  • Attention to detail with a strict focus on tool safety and efficiency.
  • An interest in woodworking, mechanical work, or an overall appreciation for rare wood is preferred.
  • Availability for occasional Saturday shifts as required.
